The Oresund Region is unique because even though it spans two countries, and two educational systems, there is such a high level of cooperation between the 12 universities in the region that students who come to study in the Oresund Region have almost limitless access to courses and opportunities. The Oresund University consortium is a cross-border collaboration between the 12 universities, which gives students the opportunity to supplement studies with courses at other member universities.
Excellent study options
As part of their services for international students, the Oresund University consortium has created the study portal Øresund Study Gateway, which guides prospective students to the thousands of courses and complete degrees taught in English in the region. Every year, thousands of students from around the world come to the Oresund Region to study, attracted by the high and internationally recognised academic level of education, as well as the vibrant and friendly study environment that is characteristic of the region’s universities. Exchange students and international students always receive a warm welcome when they come to study in the Oresund Region.
A dynamic knowledge and science region
The Oresund Region is one of Europe’s leading centres of research and education, with some of the faculties at the universities being among the highest ranking faculties in Europe in subjects such as social sciences, business, and humanities. A large number of research centres are based in the region, including IDEON in Lund, MEDEON in Malmö and CAT in Roskilde, making the Oresund Region an attractive destination for post-graduate students, researchers and scientists.
Living in the Oresund Region
The Danish capital of Copenhagen marks the centre of the Oresund region on the Danish side, while Sweden’s third largest city, Malmö, is right on the other side of the Sound. Between them, these two cities offer a plethora of museums, cinemas, theatres, concert venues and cafés. At the same time, the miles of clean beaches, forests, hills and plains, great climbing and hiking trails found in the region offer many opportunities to get away from city life and enjoy the Scandinavian outdoors.
